If you are coming from Bangor, about 10-12 miles after the 395 intersects Route 1A going towards Ellsworth you will notice on the right hand side of the road a sign which says Camp Jordan, do not turn there however-just notice the pretty sign.  Continue on towards Ellsworth for about 2 more miles.  On the left hand side of the road you will see a small building which houses a local store (-not like a Walmart, with parking for thousands, but rather a small store with parking for  2 ) which has from time to time been called the Nicolin General Store. [It may or may not be in business currently and the name may have changed again!]    Directly across the street from the store is a  road called Branch Pond Road.  Turn right on that road and follow  the paved portion for about 2 miles.  Continue on--

If you are coming from Ellsworth, on Route 1-A about 10 minutes outside of Ellsworth you will notice on the right hand side of the road a see a small building which houses a local store (-not like a Walmart, with parking for thousands, but rather a small  store with parking for 2  which has from time to time been called the Nicolin General Store. [It may or may not be open, and the name may have changed again!]    Directly across the street from the store is a  road called Branch Pond Road.  Turn left on that road and follow the paved portion for about 2 miles. Continue on----

 Continue On   ->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->

 On the right hand side of the road you will see an apple orchard which has electric fencing around it.  There is a road on the right hand side which goes right into the middle of the orchard.  That is the road you have been searching for.... Yup, go ahead and take it.  The road is marked by a big sign with a whole bunch of names on it.  For security reasons the FBI has suggested that we not list our name on it, but do not let that dissuade you from your travels.

Turn right on to that road -which is dry, dusty dirt if you are lucky!   In the winter it is ice, and following rain it is pure mud)   Follow this road thought the apple orchard and down a steep hill until the road ends.  It is maybe a quarter of a mile.  Now, you are really starting to wonder what you have gotten yourself into.... But trust the process, and turn right onto Cove Rd.  Sometimes there is a sign, but the key is the road will end at a T.   Continue on Cove Rd and count for the 4th driveway on the left.  It is almost hidden away and invisible, but trust us it is there!  [Hint- it is the one just past the sign that says Limeburner.]   You have arrived at the world famous Gravel Driveway of the Branch Pond Cottage.     Depending on the season there may be crowds of tourists, since this is one of the hottest tourists’ sites in Maine, but just continue on past them down the driveway to the cabin.    If you are driving a large bus, semi-trailer, or heavy car we suggest you not drive all the way down to the front door as you may never get out.   Disregard the 1 hour parking sign and the meters....   Relax, you've arrived!       What else could possibly happen?   Earthquake, Hurricane, Tidal Wave, or A-bomb attack >> when you really think about it, the possibilities are endless.... Plan to relax and enjoy your time and nature in a peaceful setting.......
